And both had ties to an ugly secret of ten years past—a secret shared by none other than Eve’s new husband, Roarke.Holiday in Death No one likes to be alone during the holidays. For New York's most posh dating service, Personally Yours, it is the season to bring lonely hearts together. She blames herself for missing clues but then everyone else assures her it's not at all her fault. It was insulting and just cemented my feeling that Eve is not at all a good cop and probably needs to find another line of work. Please tell me they do get better, otherwise I'll never understand how this series has gone to over thirty installments. Roarke is awfully randy for his wife, and I'm okay with that : D Another great listen! Give it some levity in a different direction than the same ole badass cop, hot husband thing. However Eve is overworked, hunting down the Santa killer, a serial killer who rapes and murders his victims after bringing them a special gift. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer, has made a disturbing discovery: all of the victims have been traced to Personally Yours. It IS her fault she missed clues because she was busy ruining everyone else's Christmas with her bitchy attacks on everything from work to play to tradition to personal choice. The murders seem to be connected to a dating agency and Peabody and Mc Nab go undercover to find out what is going on.As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of people searching for their one true love--and a killer searching for his next victim. Despite the repetitiveness in some parts - Roarke's library, the dialog between him and Eve - I still enjoyed this installment.A world where the power of love leads men and women into the ultimate act of betrayal... Not as good as the previous, Vengeance ID, but still enjoyable because of Robb's ability to keep the pace tight and zipping along like those futuristic cars. All About Romance (AAR) Annual Reader Poll for Favorite Couple (1999), RITA Award by Romance Writers of America Nominee for Romantic Suspense (1999), Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award (RT Award) for Futuristic Romance (1998), Romance Readers Anonymous (RRA) Award for Best Alternative Realities or Time Travel Romance (1998) Another fabulous read. Eventhough they are not really together much in the books -she is off solving murders and such. Happy to potter around in jeans and boots and t-shirts. It's getting predictable but I expected this when I started the series a couple of months ago so I'm not complaining just yet.
As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of No one likes to be alone during the holidays. We have everyone talking about what a great cop Eve is but her impulsive nastiness led her down the wrong path multiple times. (view spoiler)[she finally decides to devote her evening to Roarke and head home from Peabody's apartment immediately after her friend has been attacked and almost raped/murdered! (hide spoiler)] The author was sweeping that huge event under the rug in favor of some weak epiphany for Eve. I really liked numbers 4 and 5 but then things crashed and burned for me with this series. The series seems to get a little sexier in this book. I just read awhile back about how this author has no plans to give Eve and Roarke a child...like, EVER. I think it would add an element to their relationship (and the series) that it needs. We have a controlled, calculating and organized killer who drugs his victims. One thing I can't fault though is how she fights for the dead. She wants to give them justice and tries hard to achieve it. *yum* If you are too busy with work Eve, I will always make time for Roarke. Eve and Roarke are getting ready to celebrate their first Christmas together and start some new traditions of their own.As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of people searching for their one true love.
